THERE will be a second Down Under assault on a very British institution when a rowing team from the northern district bids for the Prince Alfred Challenge Cup at this year’s Henley Royal Regatta.

A crew from Macquarie University will be on the river with the best of British from July 2 to 6, hoping to emulate the Aussie team that has just taken top honours at the Royal Chelsea Flower Show.

The local rowers, all former state schoolboys, are now in intensive training on Lane Cove River.

They will be the first Australian team to vie for the cup and also the first Macquarie U rowers to tour internationally.

It has been a long road back for University rowers, whose shed and gear were razed by arsonists two years ago…

  • Camry For Sale

As you probably know I’m heading overseas.

Therefore I have a 1995 Toyota Camry Vienta (Wagon) for sale.

It has only done 164′000km and has only had 1 previous owner.

The car is in excellent condition and is incredibly reliable.

I am asking $6000 or near offer.

Let me know ASAP. Please pass this on to anyone that you know is looking for a car.

As you are most probably aware I am out of the country for a year in a few weeks. My first endeavour is the Henley Royal Regatta in London where I am representing Macquarie University in the first Aussie crew ever to race the Prince Albert Challenge cup. So… long story short — we are holding a fund-raiser on June 6th. It is $40 student or $50 adult, all inclusive (food/drinks etc). It is going to be a fantastic night, I’m looking forward to getting the band back together, playing some Jazz/Funk/Classic hits.

  • So, how am i meant to change the world?

    luke 8:25 pm on May 13, 2008 | 0 Permalink | Reply

Just came back from a GLP distinguished speaker session and it left me thinking:

    The Environment
    Politics
    Poverty
    Education
    Mental Health
    The Economy
    Depression
    Lack of Purpose
    Greed

With all these things i’d love to change on a big scale I’m yet to understand where my passions and opportunities are leading me and where my efforts are most effective.

The funny part of it all is that, when it all boils down, I just want to love my future family to the best of my ability-by leaving them a legacy of the best world to grow up and live in.

I may be too young to be thinking of my future family, but the decisions i’m making now are going to affect them massively. And if i’m not giving it forethought who else’s responsibility is it?

  • Irreplaceable

In hindsight, it can be incredible how quickly some people become irreplaceable in your life –regardless of their proximity or currency. I’m pretty lucky to have those kind of people! Its certainly worth the massive hole they leave when they’re not around…

  • excited?

I may occasionally get impatient…but its only because I get so damn excited! None of this “If you don’t get your hopes up you cant get disappointed” – stuff that! I’d rather my (realistic) childlike excitement any day, hands down!
