Well I have decided to give up stuff, one thing each week I think, I am going to see how long it lasts and how many things that I have to much of and are not necessary that I can go without.
First on the list is cappuccinos
I’ll see how it goes, its going to be a challenge!

…coming up next week: deserts as well as cappuccinos (its an accumulating list)

    Cheers,

The New Zealand Herald: “Intelligent design – coming to a school near you

Science teachers say it has no place in the classroom. Christian educators say children shouldn’t be denied alternative views.

Science teachers retaliate that it’s not science, it’s religion behind a mask and they don’t want a bar of it. Christian educators argue they can teach it alongside traditional science, so what are science teachers so afraid of?

Science teachers’ blood begins to boil. ‘It’s not science.” they fume.

‘It’ is ‘intelligent design’ – a challenge to the theory of evolution described by some as creationism in disguise. But it’s a challenge that’s garnering support from high places.

Its a facinating article read on here

  • Google Earth 'could aid terrorists'

Two members of the Dutch parliament have questioned whether a popular free software program distributed by Google may be making life easier for would-be terrorists by providing aerial photos of potential targets. (more)

Personally, I do not think it will make that much difference, I think it is going to make much difference. Like so many other over-secure things (slow trains), if a terrorist wants to kill people, they will, FULL STOP!

    Thoughts anyone?

    Hi! Guess what!

I’m doing the World Vision 40 Hour Famine. (to sponsor me go to: https://famine.worldvision.com.au/famine.cgi?a=SPONSOR_&pn=25028013-8)

Last weekend I went without food for 40 hours to raise money to help feed hungry kids.

Just $40 will help feed 6 children in Africa for a whole month. To find out more about how the funds raised are going to be used click on http://www.worldvision.com.au/40HourFamine/about_money.asp.

Could you please support me by giving a donation?

If you can, simply visit the World Vision 40 Hour Famine website (http://www.40hourfamine.com.au) and click on Donate Here. Donations are tax deductible and the minimum amount is $2. You will receive a receipt as soon as you’ve made the donation.

When it asks you for the Famine Number, enter 25028013-8. This makes sure that the donation is recorded against me and that I’m sent a record of your donation.

(You can also go directly to the donate screen by clicking here (https://famine.worldvision.com.au/famine.cgi?a=SPONSOR_&pn=25028013-8).

    Thank you very much!

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…
    Galatians 5:22-23

Its been really on my mind lately… I am feeling convicted to be so much more aware of them, especially goodness (holiness) and self-control.
Never while living on this earth will I be able to complete these goals, but each step closer I can get the better it will be, it won’t make life any easier (many times it will make it harder), it won’t neccessarily make me happier (hopefully more joyful though), it won’t make me more popular (more often than not the reverse) and there are many things which many people would argue make these goals hopless.

But when it comes down to it, I want to be the best person I can be (the one I was created to be), I want to be able to pass good morals onto my own kids one day and also onto those around me, I want to keep myself pure and as Phil said on camp, (something along the lines of) “being the holiest person we can be for our [future] spouse so that we can encourage them to become closer to christ”.

I have no idea what God has in mind for my future, I do not know where I will be in 1 year, in a couple of months, let alone in several years. But what I do know is that I have confidence that he does have those plans (to prosper me!), and thats exciting!!!

I am excited to see the plans unfold, for the wife he has prepared for me to spend my life with, what he indends for me to spend my time on, the kids that he has already created, the people I am going to meet, the brothers and sisters I will be mutually encouraged by, those I will mentor, and all those things, all those proud moments in my life.

But I am also excited to see the pain, the hard times, the lonely times, the darkness, those who will hurt me, those who I will hurt, those who I will miss, the times I will fail. Why? Because thats what will form my character, thats what will form who I am created to be.

This post is getting long, I better finish up (and get back to my assignment).
    Cheers,
    Luke
